OK, narrowed it down...will this cruise be ok for us?

Been planning an Alaskan cruise for myself, Mom, and Grandma, and the TA came back today with a cruise that meets most of our criteria. Unfortunately it's not on HAL like we had hoped, rather it's on a Celebrity cruise instead, on The Infinity.

So, considering we were hoping for HAL, will this Celebrity cruise be comparable and appropriate for my 86 yo Grandmother who has some Parkinson's complications? It looks like we've been able to secure a handicap room until this Thurs.

And more specifically, on the room...our TA is quoting us for the handicap room number 7143 2A, which has a balcony as requested. Because all three of us will be staying there I was hoping for something around 300 sq ft. But with a price of $4100 for all three of us I'm imagining that this room may be a bit small. And for some reason I can't find specifics on this room from Celebrity's website. So, I'm wondering if anyone here has access possibly to information on how big this room is? I had told my TA our budget for the room was $5500 and really I was hoping for something like a deluxe veranda.

    Thanks for all your help!

Just looking at their website the Celebrity Suite is 451+/- s.f. but no veranda. And the Concierge cabins are 251 s.f. but there is no specifics on the handicap cabins which are generally larger than the usual cabin. Have your TA call Celebrity and get specifics on the cabin or go back to her and tell her exactly what you want again.

7143 is an ADA compliant stateroom with veranda. A standard 2A Stateroom Size: 8'66 X 18'94 and an ADA cabin will be nearly double that. HAL says their competition is Celebrity and Princess and the clientel are simlar in make up.

I have seen cabin 7141 on Infinity which would be almost identical to 7143. The standard 2A is 170 sf with balcony of 38 sf.
The accessible cabin is 270 sf with a balcony of 61 sf.

After speaking with several people who have just returned from various HAL cruises, I think you will be very happy that you are sailing on Celebrity. I understand the level of service on HAL has really gone down since our last cruise with them in '96. Hope you enjoy your cruise and I know you will love Alaska.

I think you will love Celebrity. I have sailed both and while HAL does have an older clientele, overall I think everyone is treated better on Celebrity. We have had people with us who had to have a power chair and the staff bent over backwards to make sure they had a great time. They even carried her chair off the ship for excursions.

Be sure to let the staff know if you have special dietary needs for your grandmother, Celebrity will go out of their way to make sure everything is satisfactory.

I have done a couple of Alaska cruises on the Infinity and can give a big vote of confidence that you will enjoy it! We just got back from Alaska last week (on Royal Caribbean) and had a marvelous time.
