Capt. Richard Phillips' crew, who said they escaped after he offered himself to the pirates as a hostage, erupted in cheers aboard their ship docked in Mombasa, Kenya. Some waved an American flag and fired a flare in celebration.
What a wonderful ending to a very serious situation. Capt. Phillips is the hero of his ship. Praise God this turned out so well. Great Navy Seals snipers.

The incident has also done a lot to turn a spotlight on what has been an on-going problem that has gotten little attention from the press.
We NEED a long-term overall solution to this problem, not just an incident by incident response.

Now the fun really starts. They have one pirate in custody. What are they going to do with him? From NPR, he is underage for most trials in the US. One possibility is that we will give him to Kenya.
This is sparking retaliation now. The pirates are now saying they will kill any US seamen they capture immediately.
Navy says it can do little to stop future pirate attacks
