    silly question

Is there laundry machines on cruise ships? I am taking a cruise next week. My bags seem so heavy. I would like to unpack and take less clothing. Anyone know the cost to use the machines? I pack two outfits per day. Thanks for any advice.

Hi Some criuselines do have free or nominal paid self-service laundry facilities, other lines don't. Princess, Cunard P&O cruiselines do whereas Costa don't. Please read the shipboard information on the web to answer your specific question on the ship you have/thinking about booking.

Hey Sunrise! Welcome to our friendly cruise community!

It's a mixed bag on which ships have self serve laundries or not. On which ship will you be sailing?

Be sure to check out the forum here at cruiselinefans that is dedicated to your cruise line...also the Roll Call for your ship ... you may find some of our members are sailing with you.

There is no silly question at CruiseLineFans.com.

If you tell us the ship you're on - we will get you an exact answer. As Char states, laundry facilities and charges are a mixed bag in the cruise world.

    Let us know!

Thanks again for posting to the forum. Please don't be a stranger.

    Hi and welcome to www.cruiselinefans.com

As has been said there are no silly questions. If you let us know which ship you are sailing on, I am sure one of our members will know the answer.

I know all Cunard ships have self service laundries with free washing power, but not all lines are the same.

    1) Welcome to CLF

    2) As mentioned, not all, but most cruise ships feature laundry.

Girl, you need to learn how to pack and re-use; change up one pair of shorts, etc. There is no need to do laundry on a cruise unless it is over 14 days. Can I come help?

For us, a self-service laundry is a must (and a deal breaker as far as my hubby is concerned). Fro our most recent cruise, a 14-day one, we use two large suitcases and a garment bag for our clothes, for the three of us, including a teen aged girl. Since one of us is allergic to regular detergent, we have to do the wash ourselves with allergen-free detergent that we pack (we used the 3-in-one Purell sheets and they worked fine).

Princess has the laundry rooms (with irons and ironing boards, a change machine, a detergent vending machine) on several of the passenger decks. Carnival also has laundry rooms. As Stephen noted above, Cunard has them too. Some Holland America ships have them.

Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and now NCL don't have them.

Just let us know which ship and someone here will know.

How true!! Not too many people change clothes twice a day, except if going to the dining room. There again, bring a pair of dress slacks or skirt and several fancy tops and voila, you are set. I purposely bring nothing heavyweight, unless it's a pair of jeans, and they can be worn more than once. I've learned to pack, then unpack a bunch of "what ifs". You won't be seeing people on board again, likely, so why waste vacation time going back to the room to change or spend time in the laundry?

We had a thread here a while back that listed all the ships and if they had laundry service. I did a quick search but couldn't find it. Anyone seen it?
