Carnival's Open bar and Wine Program

Can anyone tell me about this program? Is it only a group offered deal? I know it is around $40 a day and I heard it was only offered to groups and the entire group must purchase this deal. Please tell me more and let me know about this program. How do you get this?

That's a lot of moola per day. For 2 people on a 7 day cruise it would add up to $560. Now we enjoy a few drinks, but I don't think we've ever had a bar bill that high. Wine, maybe!

I thought that Royal Caribbean stopped offering this, but I haven't checked into it in a long time....

I've never been with a group that offered it. It wouldn't be worth it to us on RCI since we are Diamond members and have the lovely Concierge Lounge each evening with complimentary drinks.

I would be surprised if Carnival offered this. They have spent a long time trying to rid themselves of a party boat atmosphere and have succeeded admirably. To go back to that mentality does not fit their new image.

I can not imagine that there would be very many groups that would ever sign up for it. Maybe some company group cruising as a perk. Even then I would think that there could be problems with over-indulging.

I am surprised that they offered it as well....It isn't cheap...and to make it actually worth the money, you would really have to drink a ton. Like I said...I have never even offered it to most groups...because I know people in the groups, and they don't drink...and the commitment is for everyone.

Realistically, the drinks aren't any more money than going to our local bar...

Personally, I don't think it is a good idea anyway...
