It gets worse!
Sidr now a Category 5 equivalent.
From The Weather Channel web site:
Tropical Cyclone Sidr has increased in forward speed, continuing to push north through the Bay of Bengal toward eastern India and Bangladesh.
As of early Thursday morning (U.S. time), Tropical Cyclone Sidr had strengthened with winds now at 155 mph (category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson Scale of hurricanes). On its current track, it should make landfall by mid-day today (U.S. time) or early Friday morning (Bangladesh time).
It now appears that Sidr will not weaken, and make landfall as a potentially catastrophic cyclone with a tremendous storm surge, high waves, flooding, and damaging winds.
These impacts will be felt along the northeast coast of India, Bangladesh and the northern coast of Myanmar (former Burma). These regions are highly susceptible to storm surge from tropical cyclones, and have a high potential to cause large loss of life.
