Tallinn Estonia
I posted my thoughts earlier about this city but I can't find anything about Tallinn now, where did it go???
Here is a bit about the tour: A Walking Tour of Old Tallinn, a Princess cruise. WE walked through Upper and Lower Old Town. We saw Toompea Hill in Upper Town. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral which dominates Palace Square and were able to go inside. The Dome Church-Gothic St Mary's Cathedral which is the city's oldest church, the burial site for nobility, more than 60 medieval coats of arms hang on the inside walls, very impressive! Town Hall Square (shopping and resturants) which has been the center of live in Lower Town since the 12th century. The Town Council Pharmacy has been there since 1422. We had a performance of medieval choral music in the ruins of the gothic Cominican Monastery. It was in a grassy square surrounded by the very tall old walls. Price range was $49-$59, we paid the higher price and well worth it.
This city was amazing with all the old medieval walls around it still standing. I felt like I was taken back in time....a very long time! I loved every minute of it even the first 40 min in the rain! Only time I wore the poncho the whole trip.
A funny side note, we were dying for a cup of coffee so went into the MacDonalds in the square. We tried to pay with American dollars as we were all out of local money and they wouldn't take it. We all chuckled that an American institution wouldn't take American money! So we waited till we got back to the ship.
