Events in Dominica Though not as well-endowed with nightspots as other, more touristy islands, Dominica has lots to offer, that is if you still have energy after diving or walking to the Boiling Lake!

From the World Creole Music Festival in late October, to Independence in November followed by February's Carnival, the major events of the year are either side of Christmas.

However, the summer sees plenty of action as well. Domfesta hosts many events from April to June, and the Giraudel-Eggleston Flower Show usually takes place during this time as well.

The ever-popular Dive Fest kicks off in early July and runs for about two weeks. The Kubuli Carib Canoe Race is a highlight of this event.

Throughout the year many communities have village feasts. Examples are the Feast of St. Peter (held in West coast fishing villages like Dublanc), La Salette in Pointe Michel, or Fete Isidore in Grand Bay. Usually held over a weekend, the feast may start with a church service, followed by events throughout the day, and culminates in a dance in the village hall or school.
