Now that Progeso has been been added as a port for many cruises, can someone help with Progeso on your own?

My research has proved that Progeso is still very unuse to tourism. From what I can tell it does not offer much to do.

Since I will be there in December I am curious to know if we do Progeso without a preplanned excursion from the ship what is there to do?

I know we can go to Merida. I know it is a flat fee of $30 for a taxi for as many that can fit into the taxi.

Any ideas or help???
