Like most people, we couldn't pass up the chance to do the train the first time to St. Kitts. The second time, we decided to just rent a cab for the day and have them drive us around the island - this was by far a MUCH better choice. Got to see more, spend more time, do more things, AND it cost much less.
Definitely do not recommend the train - get a cab for the day instead. Don't need to do a shore excursion that is a tour around the island - cost more and not worth it, plus it's very crowded. Do your own thing, you'll be much happier.
