We spent a week in St. Croix twice and really enjoyed ourselves. Fredriksted, where the ships usually dock, is a small, quaint little French-like fishing village. Souvie shops, beach, restaurants (some REALLY excellent ones) and not too much else. Christiansted, which is about a 30-45 minute drive, traffic being the major issue, is a larger town with lot's of great shops, restaurants and all kinds of things to see & do.
We drove the entire island several times & there is a wonderful rainforest and also a desert side which is very interesting. Lot's of great beaches and great golf courses--which is WHY we go!!!
It would not be my favorite cruise stop due to being so far away from Christiansted, but a visit once would be nice to do an island tour IMHO!
