The scenery is great between Vancouver and Seattle. We have taken the train northbound to join the ship. Southbound the train from Vancouver to Seattle leaves at 6pm. It is not a Superliner and does not have roomettes. There is a dinning car. From Seattle southbound the train is the Coast Starlight and has roomettes. The Coast Starlight leaves Seattle at 10am. Amtrack does have connecting bus service from Vancouver. The bus leaves Vancouver at 5:45 am and arrives in Seattle at 9:15.
Also the "train" does not go to San Francisco. The route changes to a commuter train in Emeryville and then to a bus into SF. You can take the train as far as Oakland or San Jose and then find another way into SF.
When checking Amtrak schedules be sure to note what are trains and what are buses. Also some trains , like the one from Vancouver BC to Seattle do not have sleepers
If you are booking a roomette I would advise booking as soon a possible.
You can get all the schedule information at www.amtrak.com
Take note there are 2 Vancouvers, one in Washington State (WA) and one in British Columbia (BC)
If you have any other questions I can try to answer them.
