I'm hearing conflicting information. Some say that the SV cabins offer no privacy and are open to public areas. If that's the case I prefer not to book one and have people watch me eat my breakfast (my fav activity on board.) Others are saying that the verandahs are quite private. I'm looking at cabin 1242 and from the on-line diagrams, I really can't tell.
Hopefully someone who has been on board recently will have further insight.

We've got 1242 booked for a 2007 cruise, and believe me, the deck plan isn't even close to the actual configuration. The veranda is NOT that concave bit that you see -- that's the cabin! The veranda sticks off to starboard with the wall between it and the Sky Suite just forward one cabin. UK Phil was good enough to send a dandy post-refit photo that makes it all clear.
From that cabin, I see no chance of any privacy at all. The veranda, since it is mostly starboard, not aft of the cabin, hangs right out over the public space below and does not get the benefit of the canvas overhang that at least blocks some of the view from below to the verandas of the other SV cabins. Either Phil or I posted the pic over in the general Celebrity board, as I recall.
So right now, I'm not happy with the very large difference between what's shown as we booked, and the reality. Celebrity refuses to acknowledge that there is a difference. I've asked them to verify with on-board staff. If I arrive with a piece of paper that assures me there are no differences, and it's obvious when I get there that Miami was very wrong, we're going to have to discuss a pier-side change.
I'll try to find the link and get it posted over here as well.
