St. Lucia is a beautiful island. The Pitons are awesome. There are lots of things to do on St. Lucia.

On our first cruise to St.Lucia we decided to go to Sandals since we never been to one those resorts. This was before Sandals jacked up their prices. We enjoyed it

Second time we took an excursion. We used one of the guys at the dock. He had a SUV so it was very comfortable for 4. We went to the drive in volcano, saw the Pitons, drove through Soufiere, stop to view Marigot Bay, then on the way back to Castries we stopped at Eudovic's. He is a famous woodcarver. We had a couple of beers with him. I was not crazy about going to the drive in volcano but the others wanted to see it. Lots of steam coming out of the ground and the sulpher smell was horrible. There is also a pool that some excursions combine the volcano with. It is a long ride to the volcano and Soufiere. In many areas there is nothing to see except trees lining both side of the road.

Reduit Beach - A favorite of many. It is not too far from the ship. I know people who have gone there and they enjoyed.

Anse Chastanet Beach - Black sand beach that sit below the Pitons. There are catamaran tours that stop here.

There are 3 popular tour guides. Frank, Cosol and Fabian. They all seemed to be rated very high over on that "other" board.

The best way to see the Pitons is from the ocean, not by tour bus or car. I don't know if your ship will cruise pass the Pitons, some do, but only in the morning prior to docking. Hal cuts the day short in Castries and cruises by the Pitons to pick up ship sponsered excurions at Soufriere. It is wonderful site. The locals come out to the ship and dive for coins thrown by pax.

There are catamaran excursions that sail to the Pitons. As I said earlier seeing the Pitons from the ocean is the way to go.

There is shopping at the dock. There are many nice stores, not just the usual vendors.

If everything works out ok, I will be cruising to St.Lucia this Nov. We plan on going to Marigot Bay. I haven't been able to find a lot of information on the web but enough to know I want to see it up close. On our last excursion we saw it from high up. There are places to eat, hotels and a beach you reach by a 5 minute boat ride. The orignial Dr.Doolittle movie was filmed there.

Look for the sheep that look like goats.
