Very interesting. I didn't know all this when I was there in 2001. We were on a tour of the Golden Triangle area and were able to cross the border into Myanmar. Were there a very short time and heavily guarded. I have never seen such poverty, very depressing! I was a bit nervous and very happy to get back to Thailand. However I was glad to have had the chance to go there and see a bit of it anyway.
