When we sailed Disney we paid $3400 for 2 connecting staterooms for a 4 day cruise in a Cat 9 room (Disney goes from 1 being the most $ to 12 being the least $) which just gave us a large porthole window on the 2nd deck.
We are a family of 6 so that would be 3 people in a stateroom for $1700.
Now DH and I sailed the Inspiration on a 5 day and although we upgraded to a suite, our original booking was for a similar room to the one we had on Disney and we would have only paid $1000.
Now our Suite only cost us $1800 for the two us on Carnival. But I would never do it again. The Suite on Carnival was smaller than our Cat 9 room on Disney.
And well, Carnival was just not for us - too much drinking, gambling etc.
Now Disney does have adults only sections of the ship(restaurants, pools, bars), so you can get away from kids for awhile.
