Please don't be offended by this posting! However, you really mustn't believe everything you read. You have quoted above that 'in 1483 Richard II ordered a general planting of yew trees to provide the wood for ... longbows'. I don't know where this statement has come from, but I have often seen it quoted. It was Richard III who was on the throne in 1483, and there is no known reference to such an enactment made during his reign (although his parliament did strengthen a previous act of his brother Edward IV requiring imports of wines to be accompanied by yew staves to make longbows with). And you mention later that it was at Flint that Richard II gave up his throne to Henry Bolingbroke - in 1399!
