While we are fine with this idea, I want to make sure I fully understand how the group bookings work. Our biggest fear is that we will responsible for a deposit on all 8 cabins in the group instead of just the 3 we currently require.
So my questions are: - If we create a group, are we required to book the entire group as soon as the group is created (or at least put a deposit on them all), or can some of the rooms stay unbooked?
- If the entire group wasn't booked, would we lose our special prices/amenities?
- What are the risks involved with creating a group? And would they outweight the benefits for a "group" as small as ours is currently?
I appreciate any answers you have, I'm really just trying to make sure I understand all facets of the group booking before I sign over my first born. Our TA has been very friendly and very helpful already, but I want to make sure there isn't an important part of the puzzle she may not be telling me that I don't know enough to ask about either.
Thanks!

I don't require my clients to fill the whole group space on their own, as I will promote the group to my own clients and help fill the entire space. You only deposit your own cabins/ cabins...
You could lose your amenities, but lately some of the cruise lines have been offering a protection of the amenities.
The only risk is the possibility losing the amenities. Sometimes I will get extra amenities on my own if the group space isn't met. But alot of the cruiselines know will still honor them.
I agree with Pete in getting a travel agent that specializes in groups.
I typically grab a good deal of group space every year for clients and myself to promote.
Good luck with your plans!
