After YEARS of going to Cozumel 1,000 times....we finally went over to the East side in January for the frst time and loved it.
We hired a private driver named Gerry. He was wonderful.
He speaks excellent English...but his written English is still a little rough....so Mike Thompson handles the email/reservations for him.
You do not give them a credit card to make a reservation. You simple email cozumeltaxi@hotmail.com and see if Gerry is available for the day your ship will be in port.
Gerry charges $95.00 for 3 hours for up to 4 people (although he can get a van that holds 8....I am not sure if there is an additional charge). It is $25.00 for each additional hour.
You plan the day. He takes where ever ( and for however long) you want to go.
He will even bring an ice chest if you want to stop at a grocery for ice, soda and beer.
Gerry picks you up at the pier. Takes you where you want to go and brings you back to the pier. You pay him in cash at the end of your tour.
If I can find our pictures...I will post one of him so that you will know what he looks like.
Both the vehicles he uses (station wagon or van) are new and well equipped. He is a safe driver, tells you a lot about the area...will show you places like the hospitals and colleges etc. He is careful to lock the van at every stop.
The East side is primitive with open bars....so we "bar hopped" down the East side and had a blast. (which is why we did not want to drive....since we would be drinking) |
