There is no guarantee which locks you will be using. Latest I've heard is that they use both locks one-way for a time, and then switch direction and use both locks in the other direction.
For instance, on the Brilliance we were in the left set of locks, while watching a cargo ship follow us, in the same direction, in the set of locks on the right.
