This is the beginning of the long uphill street with very pushy vendors. The tour bus guide parade you up this street stopping at their highly recommended places to buy stuff at. You could see the tour guides getting kick backs from these shops  Our tour guide had an arm full of free stuff for her when she arrived back at the bus, stating that they loved her!
Again this was not a problem for me as I shop where ever I want to anyway LOL and no matter which shop I went into they were all willing to drop prices to make the sale
